Disco Off-Duty

Spring has arrived, and with it the 70’s are making an epic comeback in fashion!  Sunshine, bubblegum, and a splash of electric blue marks the end of winter! I’m not one to fully embrace current trends, but when the look-of-the-moment is in line with my own personal tastes and style, I dive right into the deep end of the trend and ride the wave with gusto!

This look is playful, youthful and boldly flashy, but somehow in a completely understated way.  The woman who wears this definitely knows how to make a statement, but she also understands the power of subtlety, mystery and modesty. She knows a dash of class goes a long way.

She’s one of those woman who manages to look glamourous waiting for a bus when it’s freezing outside.  She get’s noticed without trying and there’s no denying it, this girl knows how to have fun!

For this shoot, the onset of spring called for bold colour in the urban backdrop of Winnipeg’s Exchange District, which sparks to life as people emerge from their wintery hideouts.

Embracing the 70’s revival in a vintage polyester dress was a must, but the real fun and challenge is the subtle art of balancing old with new and creating my own modern take on it.  This is the stuff that blows my hair back!  I hope it gets your creative juices flowing too!
